Who we are
Cumberland Family Coaching was founded to help families navigate addiction, mental health challenges, and the often-overwhelming treatment system with confidence and support. We provide professional intervention services, family coaching, and recovery guidance, helping families create a clear plan during some of life’s most difficult moments.
-
Change starts with the whole family.
We understand addiction from both sides, the perspective of the individual seeking recovery and the family trying to help.
When someone you love is struggling, it’s natural to focus on changing their behavior. At Cumberland Family Coaching, we focus on what families can change — how they communicate, set boundaries, make decisions, and move forward together.
Our approach is personalized, collaborative, and grounded in both professional expertise and lived experience. There is no one-size-fits-all path forward.

Built from personal experience. Backed by professional expertise.
Cumberland Family Coaching was born from founder Tim’s own experience with addiction and recovery. As a young adult, Tim struggled with substance use while his family struggled to find the right help — moving between treatment programs and professionals without a clear roadmap.
After finding lasting recovery, Tim dedicated his career to helping other individuals and families navigate that process with greater clarity and support. Today, with more than 12 years of sobriety, a Master of Social Work, licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and certification as an Intervention Professional, Tim brings both lived experience and clinical expertise to every family he works with.
-
Tim earned his Master of Social Work from Sacred Heart University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). He is a Certified Intervention Professional through the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR), combining specialized intervention training with years of clinical experience working with individuals and families affected by addiction, behavioral struggles and mental health challenges.
